Service Connect Review:

Service Connect, part of San Mateo County, is dedicated to facilitating the reintegration of former inmates into the community by offering a diverse array of support services. This program specifically targets individuals who have served sentences for select low-level offenses, reside or intend to reside in San Mateo County, and are either enrolled in Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) or have completed their sentences in county jails under the 1170h program.

Eligibility for Service Connect or other re-entry assistance should be confirmed with your Probation Officer.

This initiative represents a collaborative effort involving the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department, Correctional Health, Probation, Human Services Agency, and San Mateo County Health. The multidisciplinary team aims to reduce recidivism and effectively connect clients with essential services.

The services offered through Service Connect encompass:

• Safety Net Services Kit - Provision of temporary emergency shelter, emergency food assistance, clothing and transportation vouchers, personal hygiene kits, and help in obtaining California identification documents.
• Case Management - Comprehensive assessments for financial benefits and health coverage, connections to job training and employment opportunities, family re-engagement support, mental health and substance abuse recovery referrals, as well as assistance in achieving personal and probation-related objectives.
• Employment Services - The 550Jobs! program offers employment training and job placement services.
• Support Groups and Community Mentorship - Weekly support groups tailored for Service Connect clients, alongside peer-to-peer mentoring, Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) courses focusing on moral decision-making, and recovery coaching directed at those pursuing long-term recovery and wellness.
• Health Services - Access to screenings and treatments for mental health issues, alcohol and drug dependency, as well as additional health and wellness needs, including dental care.
